“If Garfield ever lost weight, I’d lose my job security.” –Jim
Davis
When the world’s most famous feline hits the three-decade milestone
it’s time to celebrate! 30 Years of Laughs & Lasagna is a tribute to this
tremendous achievement. Organized by decade, each with an introduction by Jim
Davis, this lavishly illustrated volume features more than four hundred strips,
including thirty of Jim Davis’s all-time favorites–with informative remarks from
Jim on why they made the grade. Packed with early sketches, enlightening quotes,
and fun facts (did you know that the Garfield comic was originally titled Jon?),
this book shows how Garfield evolved from a witty kitty to a world-renowned fat
cat. Of Jim Davis’s “little hobby,” Blondie cartoonist Dean Young writes:
“Every one of [these] little treasures is an exquisite menagerie of comic
timing, writing, and cartoon art. It’s easy to see why his strip is continually
voted one of the best on our planet by readers everywhere.” So if you
appreciate the unparalleled splendors of layered pasta, need something to ward
off those nap attacks, or have a healthy appetite for humor, 30 Years of Laughs
& Lasagna is just the ticket. Perhaps Jim Davis puts it best: “This whole
line of work is to make people happy and smile.” Garfield’s millions of fans
couldn’t agree more.
Garfield Minus Garfield:
It’s Garfield–as you’ve never seen him!
Come savor the existential
adventures of Jon Arbuckle in Garfield Minus Garfield. Based on the
phenomenon ignited by Dan Walsh’s hilarious and wildly popular webcomic (beloved
by The New York Times and The Washington Post, and hailed as
“inspired” by Garfield creator Jim Davis), Garfield Minus Garfield takes
everyone’s favorite fat cat out of the picture, leaving us with only the lonely
ennui of Jon as he’s left to voice thoughts about his own existence into an
empty void. With a Foreword by Dan Walsh, creator of

Charlotte Bronte: Jane Eyre (Classic Comics)
This Charlotte Bronte classic is brought to vibrant life by artist John M. Burns. His sympathetic treatment of Jane Eyre's life during the 19th century
will delight any reader with its strong emotions and wonderfully rich
atmosphere. Travel back to a time of grand Victorian mansions contrasted with
the severest poverty and immerse yourself in this love story. It is presented in
full colour graphic novel format wonderfully illustrated by legendary artist
John M. Burns. It meets UK curriculum requirements. Teacher's notes/study guides
for KS2/KS3 available.
Charles Dickens: A Christmas Carol (Classic Comics)
'I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future'. Classical Comics' first Dickens
title is probably his best-loved story. Scrooge gets a rude awakening to how his
life is, and how it should be. Full of Christmas Spirit(s), this is a book that
you'll want to read all year round!
Mary Shelley: Frankenstein (Classic Comics)
True to the original novel (rather than the square-headed Boris Karloff image from the films!) Declan's naturally gothic artistic style is a perfect match for
this epic tale. "Frankenstein" is such a well known title, yet the films strayed
so far beyond the original novel that many people today don't realise how this
classic horror tale deals with such timeless subjects as alienation, empathy and
understanding beyond appearance. Another great story, beautifully crafted into a
superb graphic novel.
Jim Butcher: The Dresden Files - Welcome to the Jungle (Del rey HB)
When the supernatural world spins out of control, when the police can’t handle what goes bump in the night, when monsters come screaming out of nightmares and
into the mean streets, there’s just one man to call: Harry Dresden, the only
professional wizard in the Chicago phone book. A police consultant and private
investigator, Dresden has to walk the dangerous line between the world of night
and the light of day. Now Harry Dresden is investigating a brutal mauling
at the Lincoln Park Zoo that has left a security guard dead and many questions
unanswered. As an investigator of the supernatural, he senses that there’s more
to this case than a simple animal attack, and as Dresden searches for clues to
figure out who is really behind the crime, he finds himself next on the victim
list, and being hunted by creatures that won’t leave much more than a stain if
they catch him. Written exclusively for comics by Jim Butcher, The
Dresden Files: Welcome to the Jungle is a brand-new story that’s sure to enchant
readers with a blend of gripping mystery and fantastic adventure.
